Program is the Ares I Upper Stage for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) Constellation program. The Ares I Rocket uses a solid rocket booster for the First Stage and a liquid oxygen/hydrogen J-2X engine for the Upper Stage. This position is based at the NASA Michoud, LA facility. Position responsibilities: Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply teams to develop and guide the implementation of Bonding and/or Foam Application Process Development and specifications for Bonding and/or Foam application associated equipment. Ensure the identification and implementation of bonding and/or foam application processes in support of the manufacturing effort. Uses process engineering principles and techniques. Develops, establishes, and guides bonding and/or foam application process development for assembly, tooling and manufacturing configurations. Performs trade and cost studies and assists in leading integrated product and process teams. Work with other functional disciplines in establishing and maintaining Bonding and/or Foam application schedules at the Michoud Assembly Facility, LA. Maintain responsibility, accountability, and authority for activity on multidisciplinary teams. Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing systems problems. Serve as a consultant to upper management on long-range planning for advanced systems developments. Position requires proficiency with Bonding and/or Foam applications.

Functions within an ISO/Team environment effectively.

Tends to a group of blow molding machines with produce plastic containers.

Makes frequent quality checks on product observing it for deviation in weight, sidewall thickness, flash, poor distribution, concavity, convexity or crooked sections and making adjustment to correct malfunctions and eliminate defects.

Makes periodic checks of heat controls, cooling water temperatures, pressures and functioning of extruder and hydraulic pumping units.

Performs preventative maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment as assigned.

Un-jams conveyor systems.

Observes all local and Company safety policies and procedures as well as housekeeping requirements.

Maintains various daily production and Team reports.

Performs screen changes as required.

Miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Administers the terms of the Collective Bargaining agreement in a consistent manner, and provides input during planning and preparation for labor negotiations
Resolve grievance and disputes on the floor whenever possible
